It's trivia night at Falls River Books, and a half-dozen competitors await their first question in fat red easy chairs pulled around a table piled with books, wine and Easy Cheese.

There's a $20 gift certificate at stake, but the competition is far from fierce. Mostly, there's a lot of laughter.

"This is more than just a store," loyal customer and trivia participant Diane Soriano said. "This is like I'm walking into somebody's living room and they're letting me read their books." That "living room" belongs to Falls River Books owner Steven Elliot, and that atmosphere is exactly what he's aiming for.

Falls River Books Writers Morning Out features Tammy Faulkner aka Lydia Dare, co-author of the paranormal romance series "The Wolf Next Door,” "Tall, Dark and Wolfish" and "Certain Wolfish Charm."

Many writers are looking for the right formula to ensure their manuscript gets published. When Tammy Falkner and Jodie Pearson met and teamed up to write their wolfish romance series under the pen name Lydia Dare, they found theirs.

Tammy will speak to members of the writing community during the monthly meeting of Falls River Books Writers Morning Out Thursday, August 12th. She will address what’s hot in publishing, how to get a publisher, what your query letter could be missing and more. Falls River Books is located at Falls River Town Center off Durant in N. Raleigh. Writers Morning Out meets the second Thursday of the month from 9:30am – 11:00am. Both the admission and coffee is free. Jon Batson, of Midnight Whistler Publishers, will facilitate.
